To use the subtitles in .wmv files, you can use VLC Media Player(Free)(play the video and do click with the right button of the mouse ->video->subtitles track->Open File..(open the .Sub file or .idx file) (For .avi files only play the video in Windows Media Player, the subtitles will start to work automatically )
